Plant That Tree
An ancient Chinese proverb states:
"The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The second best time is today."
I don't know about you, but I look back sometimes and wish I had done certain things earlier in life - like moving to NYC and embracing a dairy-free(ish) lifestyle just to name a couple. But here's the thing: just because you didn't do something sooner, doesn't mean you shouldn't do it at all.
If you haven't saved a penny for retirement, cool. Start today. If you haven't stopped smoking yet, no worries. Stop today. If you haven't been diligent about using sunscreen, that's fine. Start today. Your future self will thank you.
At 38 I moved to NYC. I had a dreamy life in San Diego, but this little voice in my head kept telling me I belonged in NYC. I thought my window had passed and that you move to NYC young and broke or not at all. Then I had this vision of being 45, still wanting to move to NYC and wishing I had done it at 38. So I did it. That was 2 years ago and it's the best decision I've ever made.
It's never too late to do what sets your soul on fire.
